CPCA: August passenger NEV exports jump 154.7% YoY
China's passenger NEV exports reached 518,000 units in August, up 154.7% year-on-year (down 5% month-on-month), according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). Notably, BEVs' share of NEV exports fell to 63.4%, meaning plug-in hybrids and extended-range models are taking a fast-growing slice of outbound volume — a structural shift as Chinese PHEV/EREV makers target markets where pure-EV charging is still thin.

BYD: August exports hit record 189,466 as overseas revenue crosses half of total
An investor briefing showed BYD's overseas sales reached 1,157,954 vehicles in the first eight months of 2026, up ~134.6% YoY (August alone: 188,746 passenger cars + pickups, +134.6%). In August, exports hit a record 189,466 units (+134.45%) while domestic sales fell 14.34% to 250,800 — pushing overseas to 43% of monthly volume. First-half overseas revenue reached about ¥181.3 billion (+34% YoY), 52.5% of group revenue, underscoring how export capacity (eight owned ro-ro ships, plants in Uzbekistan, Thailand, Brazil and a new $1B Indonesia factory) now anchors BYD's growth.
