Roewe Jiayue 07 EREV SUV opens presale from ¥137,800
SAIC's Roewe brand opened presales for the Jiayue 07 on September 21 — the first mid-size five-seat EREV SUV in the Jiayue family. Three trims are offered: the 220 LiDAR, 320 LiDAR and 320 LiDAR flagship, at ¥137,800 / ¥145,800 / ¥152,800 (≈ $19,200 / $20,330 / $21,300). The 7-day blind-order phase already drew over 11,000 reservations, more than 70% from families with children.
Power comes from SAIC's in-house 1.5T range extender paired with a 162 kW rear motor and E-CVT; CLTC combined range reaches 1,480 km (WLTC depleted-battery fuel use 4.97–5.19 L/100 km). Fast charging runs 30%→80% in as little as 15 minutes. Every trim gets a roof LiDAR and Momenta's R7 "world model" driving stack with city and highway NOA. The Jiayue 07 is notable for bringing full-range LiDAR + world-model ADAS to the ~¥140,000 segment.

BYD: overseas sales hit 1.16M in 8 months, own ro-ro fleet now 8 ships
In an investor briefing released September 20, BYD said overseas sales reached 1,157,954 vehicles in the first eight months of 2026, up about 134.6% year-on-year (August alone: 188,746 passenger cars + pickups, +134.6%). The company now operates eight owned roll-on/roll-off ships, reinforcing delivery capacity, on top of plants in Uzbekistan, Thailand and Brazil and the newly opened $1B Indonesia plant (150k units/yr). The update underscores BYD's "overseas capacity + own logistics + local sales" globalization stack.

Chinese automakers scout European factories ahead of EU local-content rules
With Brussels drafting "Made in Europe" minimum local-content rules for EVs (expected as soon as 2026–2027), Chinese brands are racing to buy or share existing European plants. BYD Europe adviser Alfredo Altavilla said Spain and France are the "most actionable" options for BYD's second European plant (a third assembly + one battery plant eventually needed); Hungary is already in early production. Rivals are on the same hunt — Leapmotor and Dongfeng share Stellantis lines in Spain and France, Geely partners Ford in Spain, and Chery took over a former Nissan plant in Spain.

In-house battery race accelerates: BYD solid-state, Li Auto 5C, Xiaomi "Longjia"
A September 21 roundup spotlights how Chinese and global makers are insourcing cells. BYD claims a sulfide solid-state prototype at 400 Wh/kg (≈2× its Blade battery) with a 1,218 km CLTC prototype, targeting a 2027 production model. Li Auto rolled its in-house 5C battery across the lineup (10 min ≈ 500 km replenishment). Xiaomi unveiled the "Longjia" pack plus a semi-solid patent. NIO opened a Shanghai cell R&D base. Overseas, BMW is scaling 46-series large cylindrical cells (EVE overtook CATL as its top supplier; Debrecen, Hungary plant), and Volkswagen's Powerco plans six European gigafactories by 2030 (negotiating a Spain Valencia plant with Gotion).
