Spotify’s integrations with Meta’s Muse, ChatGPT and Claude offer a concrete example of conversational music discovery beyond a service’s own app.
CEO Gustav Söderström says assistants send requests to Spotify for processing and that listening data is not sent to partners.
The approach puts the service’s own systems between an external assistant and personalized listening.
Spotify co-CEO Gustav Söderström told investors that the spread of digital assistants could benefit entertainment. For example, someone could ask for music for a run, a podcast related to a previous conversation, or a summary of an audiobook from where they left off.
Spotify is integrated into Meta's Muse, ChatGPT, and Claude. It was the first music service to be integrated into Muse. Söderström said that users are using the service through digital assistants to a good extent, but he didn't give numbers.
Suggestions based on listening
Söderström described an example in which Spotify could examine a user's listening history dating back to 2008, identify their favorite songs, and create a playlist for running tailored to their pace.

According to Söderström, Spotify doesn't send users' listening data to its partners. Instead, the digital assistant sends the request to Spotify, and the service uses its own systems to process it and choose what to play.
Not all services work together
Amazon has blocked Meta's Muse from using its platform for shopping. The report says that companies may restrict access to third-party digital assistants for reasons related to access, security, privacy or control of their commercial activities.
