Spotify introduces a QR code verification requirement for Premium Family plan members, requiring users to scan a dynamic code from the manager's device within seven days to prevent subscription downgrades and 12-month plan restrictions.
According to the service's rules, plan members have seven days from the time they receive the notification to complete the process. If they don't, their subscription will change and they will be banned from joining a new family or two-person plan for an entire year.
How is the process done?
The administrator creates the code by going to the profile picture, then to Your Premium, then to Manage, and the member must scan it. Because this code changes every few seconds, a simple screenshot may only work with immediate action.
However, users on Reddit and 9to5Google reported that the process can be bypassed if the administrator shows the code via video call to another device so that it can be scanned in real time.
