The JBL Vibe Beam vs Soundcore P20i is one of the most common budget earbud showdowns of 2026 — and it's a genuinely tricky one. On one side, you have JBL, a legendary audio brand, with its entry-level Vibe Beam. On the other, you have Anker's Soundcore P20i, the value champion that regularly undercuts the JBL on price while packing app-based features. Both cost under $50, both are aimed at everyday listeners, and both are among the best-selling budget earbuds on Amazon.

So which one deserves your money? We compared them head-to-head on sound quality, battery life, call quality, comfort, features, and value to give you a clear answer.

Quick Verdict: JBL Vibe Beam vs Soundcore P20i

• Pick the JBL Vibe Beam if you want the trusted JBL sound signature, better call quality with VoiceAware, and TalkThru for quick conversations without removing your buds. Check current price on Amazon
• Pick the Soundcore P20i if you want more customization (22 EQ presets via the app), slightly better battery life, Find My EarBuds, and the lower price tag. Check current price on Amazon
• Bottom line: JBL wins on brand polish and calls; Soundcore wins on features and value. Most buyers on a tight budget will be happier with the P20i.

Spec Comparison: JBL Vibe Beam vs Soundcore P20i

Design & Comfort

Both earbuds use a comfortable stick-style (stem) design with silicone ear tips, and both come with multiple tip sizes. The JBL Vibe Beam has a slightly more premium look — glossy finish, JBL branding — and sits comfortably for long listening sessions. The Soundcore P20i is more compact and understated, with a smaller charging case that slides easily into a pocket.

In practice, both fit most ears well. The Vibe Beam's ear tips seal a bit more deeply, which some listeners prefer for noise isolation. Neither is a sport-specific earbud, so for intense workouts, both are fine for light exercise but a sportier fit (like the TOZO T10) is better for running.

Sound Quality

This is where brand philosophies show. The JBL Vibe Beam delivers JBL's signature Deep Bass Sound through 8mm drivers — warm, punchy, and fun, especially for pop, hip-hop, and EDM. It's the kind of tuning that sounds great out of the box with zero adjustment.

The Soundcore P20i counters with larger 10mm drivers and BassUp technology, plus a real edge: 22 EQ presets and a custom equalizer in the Soundcore app. Out of the box it's also bass-friendly, but you can reshape the sound completely — bright and clear for podcasts, or heavy for the gym. If you like tweaking, the P20i wins. If you want great sound with no effort, the JBL wins.

Call Quality

JBL Vibe Beam takes this round. Its VoiceAware feature lets you control how much of your own voice you hear during calls, and TalkThru lets you have a quick conversation without pulling the buds out — genuinely useful on a commute. Call clarity is solid for a budget pair.

The Soundcore P20i uses dual-mic noise reduction that does a respectable job, but in noisy environments the JBL's mics pick up voices more cleanly. If you take a lot of calls, lean JBL.

Battery Life

This one is nearly a tie. The JBL Vibe Beam offers up to 32 hours total (8 hours per charge + 24 from the case). The Soundcore P20i offers 30 hours total (10 hours per charge + 20 from the case). The JBL's case holds more reserve charge; the Soundcore's buds last longer per charge. In real-world weekly use, you'll charge either case about once a week. Call it a draw.

App & Features

Soundcore P20i wins clearly here. The Soundcore app gives you 22 EQ presets, a custom EQ, and a Find My EarBuds feature — a lifesaver when a bud slips between couch cushions. The JBL Headphones app supports the Vibe Beam too, offering EQ adjustments, but it feels more limited, and it lacks the Find My feature.

One unique JBL advantage: TalkThru mode, which lowers your music and amplifies ambient sound for quick chats. Neither has active noise cancellation — that's expected at this price.

Price & Value

Both earbuds sit in the budget tier, but the Soundcore P20i is usually cheaper — often in the $25–$30 range — while the JBL Vibe Beam typically sells for more, closer to $40–$50. That price gap is the crux of this whole comparison: you're paying a brand premium for the JBL name, its call features, and its out-of-the-box tuning. The P20i gives you more features per dollar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the JBL Vibe Beam better than the Soundcore P20i?

It depends on your priorities. The JBL Vibe Beam has better call quality and the trusted JBL sound signature out of the box. The Soundcore P20i offers more features (22 EQ presets, Find My EarBuds), better water resistance, and a lower price. For pure value, the P20i wins; for calls and brand polish, the JBL wins.

Which earbuds have better bass, JBL Vibe Beam or Soundcore P20i?

Both are bass-friendly. The JBL Vibe Beam has JBL's Deep Bass tuning that sounds great with no adjustment. The Soundcore P20i has larger 10mm drivers and BassUp technology, plus app EQ that can push bass further. With EQ tweaking, the P20i can deliver more bass; out of the box, the JBL is more satisfying.

Do the JBL Vibe Beam and Soundcore P20i have noise cancelling?

No — neither has active noise cancellation (ANC), which is expected at this price point. Both rely on passive noise isolation from the silicone ear tips, which blocks a fair amount of ambient noise when you get a good seal.

Which is better for phone calls?

The JBL Vibe Beam is better for calls thanks to VoiceAware mic control and TalkThru mode. The Soundcore P20i's dual-mic noise reduction is decent but not as clean in noisy environments.

Are these earbuds good for the gym?

Both work for light workouts. The Soundcore P20i's IPX5 rating handles sweat better than the JBL Vibe Beam's IPX4. For intense training, consider sportier options like the TOZO T10 (IPX8) — but both are fine for the weight room or treadmill.
