Pigment, a Paris-based maker of business planning software, raised a $250 million Series E at a $2.3 billion valuation on October 21, 2026. The round was led by the Scaleup Europe Fund, the EU-backed fund managed by the private equity firm EQT. It is a large bet that AI agents will take over much of the spreadsheet work in corporate finance.
Business planning software is what finance teams use for budgets, forecasts and headcount plans. Pigment competes with older planning tools: it said in March 2026 that 56% of its new customers in 2025 came from a legacy vendor.
Who invested in Pigment
According to Unite.AI's report, the round includes a new and several returning investors.
| Investor | Role |
|---|---|
| Scaleup Europe Fund, managed by EQT | Lead |
| WIL (World Innovation Lab) | New participant |
| Greenoaks, ICONIQ, IVP, Meritech | Existing investors |
| Nvidia | Planned investment, not yet closed |
TechStartups reports the same lead, valuation and investor list. It also describes Nvidia's stake as planned rather than final.
The last round was a $145 million Series D in April 2024, led by ICONIQ Growth. Neither source gives Pigment's total funding to date.
What the Scaleup Europe Fund is
The Scaleup Europe Fund is backed by the European Union. The European Commission selected EQT to manage it on May 18, 2026, with a target size of 5 billion euros, according to Unite.AI. Its founding investors alongside the Commission include Novo Holdings, CriteriaCaixa and Allianz.
The fund's lead on this round puts public-backed money behind a European software company at a late stage.
What Pigment sells, and to whom
Pigment calls itself "the AI business planning and performance management platform." Unite.AI lists four parts of the product:
- Graphite, the compute engine that runs the planning models.
- AI agents, including a Modeler Agent, an Analyst Agent and Custom Agents.
- Frames, a generative interface that builds planning screens. It opened in beta to all customers on September 28, 2026.
- Agent Connectors, which pull context from Notion, Google Drive and Slack.
Pigment says agents now create 85% of new metrics on the platform. Its annual recurring revenue passed $100 million earlier in 2026 and is doubling year over year, per both sources.
The customer list mixes large enterprises and AI companies. Unite.AI names Danone, DirecTV, Siemens, Snowflake, ServiceNow and Unilever. It says Anthropic, ElevenLabs and Uber use Pigment instead of planning tools they built themselves. L'Oréal is replacing its salary planning tool with Pigment for more than 95,000 employees.
"Enterprise planning will change more in the next few years than it has in the last thirty," co-founders Eléonore Crespo and Romain Niccoli said, as quoted by Unite.AI.
The money will go to research and development, a larger engineering team and growth in new regions, Unite.AI reports. Pigment also plans to scale Graphite for bigger workloads. It wants its agents to run whole planning workflows from start to finish.
What this means for developers
Most readers will meet Pigment through a finance team rather than a code editor. The round still matters for people who build and run company systems.
- Expect planning data requests. Agent Connectors already read Notion, Google Drive and Slack. A finance team adopting Pigment will want clean feeds from your billing, HR and data warehouse systems.
- Treat agent-built models like code. If agents create most new metrics, someone has to review them. Ask how changes are logged and who approves a formula before it reaches a board forecast.
- Check before replacing an internal tool. Anthropic, ElevenLabs and Uber dropped their own planning tools for Pigment, per Unite.AI. If your company maintains one, this funding makes the buy-versus-build question worth asking again.
- Watch Nvidia's planned stake. It was not closed when the round was announced. Whether it completes is the next concrete detail to follow.
