Rivian is expanding beyond vehicle manufacturing into a technology supplier, developing proprietary AI models for in-vehicle assistants, an automated driving stack with Uber, and custom 5nm silicon designed alongside Arm and TSMC.
The company's founder and CEO is making moves that show broader ambitions. Rivian is developing its own artificial intelligence systems for in-vehicle assistants, is programming autonomous driving in collaboration with Uber, and is designing its own specialized chip in collaboration with other well-known companies. At the same time, it maintains a long-standing partnership with a large German car group for shared technology and software.
Beyond the cars themselves, the company's head is involved in the creation of new businesses, such as an industrial robot company. The aim is that the technology and systems being developed can be used more widely in the future.
