You walk the room through your design. The first comment is reasonable and you answer it. The second is about something you already considered, so you explain. By the fourth you are talking more than listening, by the sixth somebody has started a side argument with somebody else, and you leave with a flat feeling and about two thirds of one useful note.
The mistake is treating a group review as a conversation. It is not. It is a capture exercise, and the input arrives faster than any human can sort it.
Start by saying what stage you are at, because a room gives wildly different feedback to this is a direction and this ships on Friday, and it cannot tell which one it is looking at. Then get the volume written down. Ask somebody to take notes, or open a document and type while people talk, and say that is what you are doing. Nobody minds waiting eight seconds while you finish a line, and it visibly changes how carefully people phrase things.
In the room, allow yourself two moves. Correcting a fact, briefly. And asking a clarifying question, which is the one people forget. What would you expect to happen if the queue backs up. When have you seen that fail. Those turn an objection into something you can actually use, and they are the opposite of defending, so the temperature drops.
Everything else waits. Not because your answers are wrong, but because defending in front of an audience makes it a contest, and once it is a contest the careful people stop talking and you lose the notes you most needed.
Afterwards, sort them. What changes the design. What changes the plan or the order. What is preference and can be politely left. And the important pile, the notes that show somebody misunderstood what you said, because that is information about your explanation rather than about them.
Then reply within a day, in writing, saying what you are changing and what you are not and why. That is the part that decides whether people bring you their real thinking next time.
And find the person who said nothing and ask them privately. They usually have the note that matters.
