Vehicles and many auto parts have been exempted from Trump's latest tariff proposal, according to Automotive News. Discretionary or substitutable categories get exposed.

North American trade policy has consistently applied pressure at the perimeter, on categories where domestic substitution is politically achievable, while protecting embedded supply chains where disruption would create immediate economic pain.
