Autonomous AI agents generate pull requests faster than engineering teams can inspect them, leading to severe architectural drift. Open source workspaces like Whiteboard solve this by providing an Agent Canvas SDK that links sequence diagrams and ER models directly to live source code using Language Server Protocol bindings and Rust-based semantic diffing.
While high-reasoning models like Claude Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Sol deliver excellent spatial design logic, they introduce higher latency and inference costs. Engineering leaders must also guard against visual over-reliance, where clean sequence diagrams mask underlying concurrency bugs or database performance issues in the generated AST. Balancing high-level visual review with granular symbol navigation is essential as multi-agent development scales across large software systems.
