AI made the building part fast. I can go from an idea to a working product in a few days now. But the demo video? That still eats most of a day.
Here's how it usually goes for me:
- Write a rough script, hit record, stumble on line three, start over.
- Ten takes later, the best one still has an "um" in the important part.
- Trim it, patch two takes together, and nudge the audio until it matches the screen.
- Hours later I have two minutes of video, and I'm sick of my own voice.
So the demo keeps getting pushed, and the project sits in a folder. Partly because of the time, and partly because I'm never sure what a good demo should even sound like. I don't think it's just me. A lot of builders I know keep shipping and quietly skip the showing part.
What if the coach just did it for you?
A presentation coach would tell me to cut the filler and get to the point. Good advice, but I'd still be the one doing take eleven.
I wanted something that does the retake for me, so I built StoryFlow. You talk over your screen recording like you normally would, and it cleans up what you said and re-narrates the video.
- Screen-record and explain it like you would to a teammate. No script, and the ums are fine.
- It shows you word for word what you said, split into short segments.
- It rewrites each line the way a good presenter would, still in your words. You can edit any of them.
- If a line is too long or too short for its moment on screen, one click fits it, or Fit all fixes every line at once.
- Pick a voice and some background music, then hit Generate.
You get the same video back with a clean voiceover, in English, Mandarin, Malay, or Indonesian.
Think of it like this: it's a presentation coach that does the retake for you.
The launch video went through it too
The video starts with a rough take, a deliberately rambly read with every "um" left in. I dropped it into StoryFlow and edited a few lines. StoryFlow did the voice, music, timing, and final render.
Making it also turned up a few real bugs. Most are fixed, and a couple are still on my list.
Voice cloning is next on the plan, so the narration can sound like you. It's not ready yet.
It's early, and it won't save a product that isn't ready. But if you've built something good and the demo is what's holding you back, it should save you a few hours.
It's live now, and free to try. Run your next demo through it and tell me what breaks or what's missing. If it saves you time, subscribing to StoryFlow is the best way to support me.
So, what have you built that's still waiting for its demo?
