Copy.ai is generally described as a broad AI content and go-to-market platform. Letter Moth is a small Chrome extension that drafts a LinkedIn note, cold email or job answer from the page you have open. If you need a wide content toolset for a team, look at a platform. If you want quick, in-the-box outreach drafts for yourself, Letter Moth is simpler.
The two sit at different ends of a spectrum: breadth versus focus. Neither is automatically better, it depends on the job.
We build Letter Moth, so this is our view. We keep statements about Copy.ai general because its products and plans change. Please check its own site for the current picture.
What is the difference between Letter Moth and Copy.ai?
Copy.ai is a platform for generating marketing and business content, and in recent years has leaned toward workflows for go-to-market teams. Check its site for what it offers now.
Letter Moth does one thing: it reads the page you choose (when you click the toolbar button or use the right-click menu in a text box) and drafts an outreach message or job answer in your voice. It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and Opera, not Firefox or Safari.
A platform gives you many tools to build content with. A focused extension gives you one tool that lives where the writing happens.

When is a content platform the better choice?
If you need blog posts, ad copy, product descriptions, social campaigns or repeatable content workflows across a team, a content platform is the right category. Letter Moth does not do long-form content, and we will not pretend it does.
The same is true if you need automation around sales or marketing processes. Letter Moth has no sequences, no CRM and no analytics, and it never sends anything.
If you are surveying options for email specifically, our list of the best AI cold email writers compares a few approaches.
When does Letter Moth fit better?
When the task is one message to one person. A recruiter reaching out to a candidate, a founder emailing a prospect, or a job seeker answering an application question can get a draft from the page without writing a prompt each time.
You write your profile once, and your name and role go into every draft. Choose a tone (natural, professional, casual, warm or concise), and the draft is inserted into the box, trimmed to the character limit.
For job applications, see the job application answer generator.
How do privacy and control compare?
With Letter Moth, you see the context before it is used and can untick parts. It never reads password or payment fields. Page text goes to our server and the AI provider only to write that draft, is not sold, and is not kept after the draft is made.
For Copy.ai, read its privacy policy and data handling on its own site, especially if you are putting company data in.
No automation or bulk sending happens in Letter Moth. You review and send each message yourself.
How do you judge a tool for your own workflow?
Ignore feature lists and look at friction. Count the steps from seeing a profile or job post to having a draft in the right box. Fewer steps matter more than extra capability you will not use.
Also consider who owns the voice. A shared platform tends to centre brand voice, while a personal tool centres yours. Neither is wrong, but they suit different people.
- Write down the three messages you send most often.
- Time how long each takes to produce with each tool.
- Note how much you edit before you would be happy to send.
- Check pricing pages for your expected monthly volume.
How do they compare in a table?
Copy.ai changes over time, so verify its column on its own site.
What does each cost, and what is missing?
Check Copy.ai's site for current pricing. Letter Moth's free plan has 10 drafts a day and 3 saved prompts, no card. Pro is unlimited at INR 299 for 30 days or INR 2,499 for a year, prepaid by UPI, card or net banking, with no auto-renewal and a 7-day refund on the first Pro purchase. See pricing.
What Letter Moth lacks: long-form writing, templates for marketing content, team features, CRM, sequences and email finding. If your needs are smaller and more personal, add Letter Moth to Chrome and test it on a few real messages.
