Letter Moth and Lavender both help you write better outreach emails, but they are built for different people. Lavender is generally described as an email coaching tool oriented toward sales teams. Letter Moth is a lightweight Chrome extension that drafts a message from the page you have open, for individuals.
If you run a sales team and want coaching on emails at scale, look at Lavender first. If you are a job seeker, founder, recruiter or solo seller who wants a quick draft in your own voice, Letter Moth may be the simpler fit.
We make Letter Moth, so treat this as one side of the story. We will keep claims about Lavender general, since its features and plans change, and point you to its own site for specifics.
What is the difference between Letter Moth and Lavender?
Lavender is positioned as a tool for improving sales emails, with a focus on helping reps write and review messages. It is generally aimed at teams and sales workflows. Check Lavender's site for exactly what it includes today.
Letter Moth is narrower. It is a Chrome extension (also Edge, Brave and Opera, not Firefox or Safari) that reads the page you choose and drafts a LinkedIn note, cold email, referral request, follow-up, reply or job-application answer. You write a profile once, and your name and role go into every draft.
Put simply: one leans toward coaching and team sales, the other toward quick first drafts for a single person.

Who should choose Lavender instead?
Honestly, a lot of readers. If you manage a sales team, want consistency across reps, or want feedback and coaching on emails you have already written, a team-oriented sales tool is the better category. If your workflow centres on a CRM and sequences, you will want tools built around them.
Letter Moth deliberately has no CRM, no sequences, no analytics and no email finding. It does not send anything. If you need those, Letter Moth is not a substitute, and we would rather say so than have you find out after installing.

When does Letter Moth fit better?
Letter Moth fits when you are one person doing outreach and want a draft without leaving the page. You open a profile, a Gmail compose box or an application form, click the toolbar button, and get a draft written from what is on screen.
It also covers things sales tools usually do not focus on, like job-application answers and referral requests. If you are job hunting, see the job application answer generator.
And it is priced for individuals: a free plan, and prepaid Pro with UPI, card or net banking, which is convenient if you are in India.
How do control and privacy compare?
For Letter Moth, page text is read only when you click the toolbar button or use the right-click menu in a text box. You see the context first and can untick parts of it. It never reads password or payment fields. Page text goes to our server and the AI provider only to write that draft, is not sold, and is not kept after the draft is made.
For Lavender, review its privacy policy and permissions on its own site, as you should for any tool that touches your email.
Letter Moth never sends anything, never clicks for you, and does no scraping or automation, so you stay the author of every message.
How can you decide in ten minutes?
Run a small test instead of reading feature pages. Take three real messages you need to send this week, and draft each one with both tools if you can access them. Compare how long each took, how much you rewrote, and whether the result sounded like you.
Pay attention to the work around the draft too. Does the tool fit your day, or does it add a new dashboard to check? For some teams a dashboard is the point. For a solo sender it is overhead.
- Do you need team coaching and reporting? Lean toward a sales-oriented tool.
- Do you mostly need a first draft from a profile or page? Try Letter Moth's free plan.
- Do you need a CRM or sequences? Neither of these tests replaces that.
How do they compare side by side?
This table keeps Lavender's column general on purpose. Competitor products change, so verify details on Lavender's own site.
What does Letter Moth cost?
The free plan includes 10 drafts a day and 3 saved prompts, with no card. Pro is unlimited drafts and saved prompts, prepaid at INR 299 for 30 days or INR 2,499 for a year. It never auto-renews, and the first Pro purchase has a 7-day refund. See the pricing section.
For Lavender, check their site for current pricing. If a quick, individual-focused drafter sounds right, the cold email writer page shows what it does, and you can add Letter Moth to Chrome to try the free plan.
