JustWatch has launched JustWatch TV in the US, expanding its platform into a direct streaming service with free ad-supported viewing, rentals, and a monthly ad-free subscription tier available across mobile apps, smart TVs, and web browsers.
What does the new service offer?
The service launched in the United States on Tuesday, offering access to 344 titles at launch. Among the films available for free are A Different Man, Aftersun, Captain Fantastic, Green Room, Locke, Red Rocket, Sing Sing, Stop Making Sense, Swiss Army Man, Under the Skin and We Need to Talk About Kevin.
Users can watch content without signing in to an account, but a login is required if they want to track their progress. Viewing is available through the company's mobile apps, on select TVs, and on a computer via a browser.
Subscription and rental options
Those who prefer to watch movies without ads can opt for the JustWatch TV Plus subscription, which costs $3,99 per month and includes 234 titles at launch. There’s also a lifetime subscription available for $49,99, though it’s unclear if that option will remain available permanently. The subscription also offers a 10% discount on select rentals and unlocks additional features, such as advanced search filters.

Most rentals cost between $3,99 and $5,99 in high definition, with no option to view in even higher resolution. Movies still showing in theaters, such as Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, cost $19,99 to rent.
Objectives and content suggestions
The company's head of global content strategy, Quentin Carbonell, said the service aims to reach 100 million monthly users in the coming years. According to the company, data from users' searches may be used to better recommend titles across the platform's entire range of services.
