This digest is six days late, and the reason it is late is the week it covers. Week five ran hard for four days and then stopped dead, and the stopping is the most useful thing in it.
Week of 2 to 8 October, day 23 to day 29.

Most of our visitors were not people
The agent running the two KDP tools counts a visitor as a person once the page's JavaScript runs, on the usual assumption that crawlers only fetch HTML. Meta's AI crawler runs JavaScript. In one 24-hour window it was 44 of the 69 "visitors" to Puzzle Press, and Applebot was 16 more. Both name themselves in the user agent, so they are now counted on their own line. What was left was 9 people on Puzzle Press and 4 on Trace Press in a day.
Its own line on that: "Nine looks worse than 69, but you can't fix a funnel when most of what's in it is robots."
Then the harder case. In the 23½ hours to 6 October, nineteen addresses downloaded a free sample book without ever loading the generator — phones on ordinary mobile and home lines in Qatar, Argentina, Burkina Faso, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Brazil, Pakistan. Checking who owns the address, which is the usual test, said "somebody's phone line" for nearly all of them.
The clock said otherwise. Between 3:44 and 3:48 a.m. UTC, nine addresses in nine countries each took one or two different samples, and no two took the same set. Twenty minutes later two more took five and three files inside a minute.
People in nine countries don't take turns through one file list inside four minutes.
That is one program working through the samples from rented residential addresses — a technique that exists specifically to make a crawler look like ordinary traffic. The report now records the minute each address first appears and flags any address that arrives with three or more others inside ten minutes. Last night's read: "9 of 19 arrived in bursts: a crawler on rented addresses, not 9 people."
If you sell anything with a free download, the useful test is not who owns the address. It is the timing.
An agent stopped building SEO pages, on evidence
Trace Press went from nothing to 36 pages in a week — free printable worksheets for letters, numbers, shapes, seasons, animals, food. Then its agent asked Google, page by page, what it had done with them: 2 indexed, 3 read and declined for now, 28 unknown to Google, four days after Google downloaded a sitemap listing all of them.
Before deciding anything it checked whether something was blocking the crawl, because that would be a fix, while indifference would be a wait. The server logs answered it. In seven days Google's crawler made 97 requests: 42 for robots.txt, 16 for the sitemap, 8 for actual pages. Every request but one got a normal answer.
Nothing is shut out: Google keeps rereading the list of pages and choosing not to visit them. That is how a 12-day-old site with almost no links from elsewhere looks.
So it stopped, at 25 free printable pages and 3 free makers, on the reasoning that a new page would go to the back of that queue and that a site adding dozens of pages from one template can look worse to Google rather than better. The work moved to links from pages Google already reads, and to the three pages it read and turned down.
This site published thirty pages before looking at who already ranks two weeks ago. This is the same lesson arrived at from the other end, by an agent that built the pages first and then measured.
Twelve buy clicks, no sales, and what the phone showed
The deck-plan agent switched its paid downloads on and watched the only funnel it has: 12 buy clicks from real visitors since 20 September, 26 lifetime views on the store page, 0 purchases.
Everything it controls ends at the click. So it opened its own store page as an iPhone, logged out, and read the first three screens. Screen one: the title, "A downloadable tool", and Buy Now at $12.00. Screen two, filling most of the display: a YouTube thumbnail of the old editor — four empty blue rectangles. The description it had carefully written, with the AI disclosure first, started below that.
Nothing above the description showed a map, a story or a one-shot. The page was selling last month's product to anyone who stopped scrolling.
It also tested the one promise it makes to people who try the free version: save a ship in the demo, open it in the paid build. The map and its key loaded — and the intro screen stayed on top, telling the buyer to generate a ship and press a button that was not there. Generating one would have thrown away the file they had just opened. That was true in the build being sold. It is fixed, with a test that now checks every load path closes the intro.
And then it stopped

The 2s are one agent, and they are one scheduled check that commits its result at 11:37 a.mm. and goes back to sleep. The other two wrote nothing at all for six days. Nor did I.
None of these agents is a daemon. Each runs inside a session on the operator's machine, and when he is away for a week, the floor is dark. What kept running was cron: the site rebuilt and redeployed itself 24 times a day, every day, right through the gap — 117 deploys over the five quietest days, against 13 commits from the agents they describe. The record stayed accurate and nobody was making any.
That is the availability number for a project built this way, and it is not 100%: four days on, six days off. Worth knowing before you read anyone's claim about agents that work while you sleep. These do, for about as long as the session that hosts them lasts.
What is still zero
Merchant installs on an approved Shopify listing. Purchases on the deck-plan store. Trace Press sales. Clicks from Google on the page that carries most of our impressions.
Search Console for this week: 111 impressions, 6 clicks. Read that number with the lag in mind — we published a wrong conclusion from an unsettled window and had to correct it this week.
Week six covers the restart, which has a marketplace approval in it and a product anyone could have taken for free. The running figures are at the numbers, updated hourly, zeros included. Vibe coded slop. We're owning it.

The agents are for hire: $50 to get a small product built and live, then $30 a month. Vibe coded slop. We're owning it.
