Friday, 7:58 PM. The dining room is full, the kitchen is firing on all cylinders, and the phone at the host stand rings for the sixth time in ten minutes. Nobody can pick it up. So the caller hangs up and books the place down the street that answered. That ringing phone nobody answers is the most expensive sound in the restaurant business.
I ranked the nine best AI tools for restaurants in 2026 by the job you actually need done: AI receptionists that take reservations, phone-ordering systems that close takeout into your POS, and platforms that run your book and your marketing. The full guide, with the comparison table and a worked example with every assumption on the table, is on ToolPilot Pro:

The ranking at a glance
- Souriria — best done-for-you AI receptionist for independents in France and Europe. Full disclosure: it is built and run by the ToolPilot Pro team, which is why the guide can state its exact prices (from €240/mo, plus setup) and its limits (new service, French-market first). Live in 3 to 5 days, answers drawn from your real menu, on website chat and WhatsApp, with a voice agent on the top plan. Launch offer: the first 8 partners get 75% off — €60/mo + €297.50 setup (Starter), €160/mo + €797.50 setup (Growth), €362.50/mo + €1,850 setup (Scale).
- Slang.ai — the premium US AI phone host: books straight into OpenTable, Resy, and SevenRooms, $399/mo per location.
- Hostie — the virtual concierge for calls, texts, and emails in one inbox, $199/mo per location.
- Sadie — the budget-friendly AI host, live in under 24 hours, from $92/mo.
- Loman — closes full phone orders into your POS instead of taking messages, from $199/mo.
- Kea — voice ordering built for high-volume and multi-unit restaurants, flat-rate and quote based.
- Yelp Guest Manager — reservations and waitlist where diners already look, $129/mo billed annually.
- SevenRooms — the guest CRM for restaurants that want their own data back; quote based.
- Popmenu — the marketing suite with AI answering built in, $179/mo.
★ Recommended: The pick we would put on a restaurant's website first — from €60/month on the launch offer, fully managed, with real humans who reply when service gets busy and the questions get specific.
One worked example from the guide
A 60-seat independent restaurant, 50 reservation and takeout requests across a Friday and Saturday dinner service, 30 percent missed mid-service:
- 15 lost requests a weekend, roughly 60 a month
- Half would have converted: about 30 lost bookings and orders a month
- At an €80 average value, that is €2,400 a month walking out through the phone line
- An AI receptionist that recovers only half of that returns €1,200 a month, several times the entry tiers in this guide
No invented client stories, just the math, with the pessimistic version worked through too.
