Skylum has dropped “Neo” from Luminar’s name, but its pricing still separates the core app from continued access to AI tools and extra assets.

What does each version include?
The Desktop Only version costs $129 and works on Windows and macOS, on up to two devices. It includes access to the AI tools for one year.
The All Platforms edition costs $159. It adds apps for iOS and Android, the Spaces service, and access to the Luminar editor for the web, which is expected to be released later in 2026.
The Max version costs $199 and includes access to a collection of additional files, such as ready-made styles, overlays, and sky images.

Search and edit photos
Luminar allows you to search for photos using everyday words that describe their content. However, it doesn't allow users to add their own keywords or filter photos based on things like camera model and lens.
The program experienced lag and hangs when loading folders with many images. In some cases, it took several minutes for thumbnails to appear.
In our review, the grain reduction feature was inferior to Adobe Lightroom's. The image enlargement tool often produced blurry or unnatural results. In a test with an old photo, Luminar removed dirt and restored colors, but it didn't straighten the curved edges of the print.
Problem with photo collection in testing
During a two-week test, the author's photo gallery wouldn't open after the program crashed. Restoring a backup from the previous day fixed the problem without losing his work.
Luminar requires Windows 10 version 1909 or later, Windows 11 or macOS 13 or later, and 10 GB of space to install. Skylum recommends a computer with 16 GB of memory, but says 8 GB is sufficient.
