Most school and training-institute websites we review in the UAE are brochures: a hero photo, a welcome message from the principal, and a PDF prospectus. Meanwhile the parents and students actually using the site are trying to do three specific jobs β check programmes and fees, ask a question fast, and apply or book a visit. When those jobs are buried, the enquiry goes to the institution whose site made them easiest.
We just rebuilt our own education-sector page around what the search results and real institute sites showed us, and three patterns kept coming up.
1. Admissions is a funnel, not a page
The dedicated education pages that rank in the UAE treat admissions as steps: programme list β requirements β fees or a fee enquiry β application or campus-visit booking. Each step answers one question and offers exactly one next action. A single "Admissions" page that tries to answer everything at once converts worse than the stepped version, because parents on phones β most of this traffic β will not scroll a wall of text to find the apply button.
2. Portals and logins are part of the website brief
Parent portals, student logins and LMS access are usually bolted on after launch, which is why they end up as forgotten subdomain links. The stronger sites plan them in the first build: one visible login entry, the same design language inside and out, and a support route when a parent gets locked out during results week β which is exactly when traffic spikes.
3. Arabic is not a translation toggle
For UAE institutes, the Arabic version is often the version grandparents and Arabic-speaking parents actually read. Machine-translated pages with broken right-to-left layout signal carelessness to exactly the audience the school wants to reassure. A proper bilingual build β real translation, real RTL layout β is a trust feature, not a checkbox.
The enquiry channel parents actually use
In the UAE, the follow-up question after visiting a school website is usually a WhatsApp message, not an email. Putting a staffed WhatsApp route next to the admissions steps (with the programme name pre-filled where possible) removes the "which number do I even message?" friction. We wrote up how we structure that on our WhatsApp Business API page, and the bilingual side on our Arabic website development page.
The full breakdown of what we put on an education website β admissions funnel, portal planning, bilingual build β is on our education website design page. If you run a school, nursery or training institute in the UAE and your site is still a brochure, that page is the checklist we would start from.
