A federal judge has dismissed Ann Altman's lawsuit against her brother Sam Altman following her refusal to attend a court-ordered independent medical examination.
The dismissal bypasses a ruling on the merits of the underlying claims.
Judge Zachary Bluestone did not consider the merits of the allegations. Ann Altman filed the lawsuit in January 2025, accusing her brother of child abuse. According to the complaint, the incidents occurred at the family's Missouri home between 1997 and 2006. Sam Altman, now 41, denies the allegations.
In March, the judge ruled that the original charges were time-barred but allowed her to refile the lawsuit under Missouri child abuse law. The judge also granted Sam Altman's request to drop a defamation counterclaim he had filed against his sister.
Sam Altman, their mother and their two younger siblings have previously jointly stated that the allegations are completely untrue. It is noted that Ann Altman's former lawyer, Santos Perez, had withdrawn from the case in October.
