Google is extending Gemini's 'Personal Intelligence' features to Android Auto globally.
The integration allows Gemini to leverage data from connected Google Workspace and service APIs, such as Gmail, to provide personalized, context-aware responses.
Drivers can utilize natural language for routing and info queries.
The implementation includes opt-in mechanisms for app-level data access control.
The update is currently unavailable for users in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Nigeria.
The feature allows the digital assistant to pull information from other Google apps, such as Gmail, to give drivers more personalized answers. The feature was launched earlier this year and expanded to free accounts in March. By connecting email, drivers can ask for information like boarding gate details or flight status while driving.
More natural communication and suggestions along the way
Communicating with the digital assistant becomes simpler and more natural. Drivers can ask for navigation directions, for example, to go to a doctor's appointment, instead of having to give a specific address.
At the same time, Gemini can recommend restaurants along the route, taking into account personal preferences, such as whether someone follows a vegetarian diet.
