I launched Buzz Capitol in 2026 — an independent digital news and media platform where I'm the Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief. No investors, no newsroom, no legacy brand behind it. Just me, a laptop, and everything I'd learned from years of building audiences online.
I'm Sami Ullah, 23, from Abbottabad, Pakistan. Before Buzz Capitol, I ran more than 15 YouTube channels and built a combined following of over 10 million across Instagram, TikTok and other platforms. That experience was my real education — not in journalism school, but in the mechanics of how information travels on the internet. This is what building a news platform from scratch actually looks like.
Start with the problem, not the platform
Most media startups begin with a tech stack. I started with a question that wouldn't leave me alone: why do so many stories about places like mine get told wrong — or never get told at all?
Abbottabad is beautiful and calm, far from the cities where Pakistan's media decisions get made. The internet doesn't care where you live, but legacy newsrooms often do. There was a gap: independent, digital-first news that treats young readers like intelligent people instead of engagement metrics. I decided to fill it.
The lesson for anyone building anything online: the platform is the easy part. Knowing exactly whose problem you're solving is the hard part, and it determines every decision that follows.
Distribution first, prestige later
Here's the uncomfortable truth about digital media in 2026: a great story that nobody reads might as well not exist. My 15+ YouTube channels and 10M+ followers taught me distribution before I ever published a news article.
Each channel was an experiment — what makes people click, what makes them stay, what makes them trust. Attention is cheap; trust is expensive. Anyone can go viral once. Almost nobody can build something an audience believes in, week after week. That distinction became the editorial philosophy of Buzz Capitol.
When I launched, I didn't start from zero. I started from an audience that already knew my voice. If you're building a content platform, build the audience before you need them. The platform is just where you invite them.
Zero capital, full ownership
Everything I built — the channels, the audience, the academy — was built with zero capital. No investors, no loans, no office. That's not just a budget constraint; it's a strategy. When nobody funds you, nobody tells you what to publish.
That independence is the whole point of Buzz Capitol. As Editor-in-Chief, I make the editorial calls: what to cover, how to cover it, what not to publish. There's no advertiser relationship or investor preference quietly shaping the coverage. For a news platform, independence isn't a marketing word — it's the product.
The trade-off is real, though. Zero capital means zero margin for waste. Every article has to earn its place. Every feature of the site has to justify its existence. Constraints like these force clarity that a big budget never would.
The tech is the boring part (and that's fine)
People ask about my stack more than my editorial standards. Here's the truth: the technology behind a modern news platform is a solved problem. CMS, hosting, distribution, newsletters — all of it can be assembled from tools that already exist. What isn't solved is the human part: editorial judgment, consistency, and the willingness to publish something unpopular because it's true.
I spent my time on the things that compound: a clear voice, a consistent publishing rhythm, and standards I could defend publicly. The site itself is infrastructure. The trust is the asset.
Writing as infrastructure
Along the way, I wrote six books — including "Echoes of Truth: The Age of Information Chaos" and "Behind the Headlines." They weren't a side project; they were me documenting what I was learning in real time. Writing forces clarity. A chapter about information chaos is me organizing the editorial lessons from running a news platform. A chapter about zero-capital growth is me organizing the lessons from every channel I built from nothing.
If you run any kind of platform, write about it. Not for marketing — for thinking. The discipline of explaining what you do will improve what you do.
What I'd tell a 20-year-old starting today
I also chair Digi Skill Pro Academy, where our online-earning classes are 100% free. In 2025, more than 10,000 students came through, and over 5,000 reported real earnings. That project taught me something that applies directly to Buzz Capitol: when you give value freely, trust compounds faster than any marketing budget.
So here's my advice: don't wait for permission, credentials, or capital. Pick the gap you actually care about, build the audience before you need them, publish with standards you can defend, and write down what you learn as you go. I built a news platform at 23 from a quiet city in the hills of Pakistan. The internet is the most level playing field that has ever existed for ideas. Use it.
