Best Chatbase Alternatives in 2026: 7 Tools Compared

We evaluated seven Chatbase alternatives the way a support-automation buyer
should: not "does it chat," but what happens to the question after the
chat ends. Six of seven tools end the conversation in the browser. One
turns it into a lead, a mailbox entry, or a request from another agent.

The three gaps that decide this comparison

1. Provenance. Every tool claims "grounded answers." Only AgentTrove
puts the source page under the answer for the visitor to open. When a
chatbot paraphrases your pricing wrong, "grounded" without a visible source
is how the error hides.

2. The decline path. Chatbase-class tools answer or stall. AgentTrove
declines honestly and captures the question — with the asker's email — into
a mailbox the owner answers once, and the answer becomes part of what the
agent knows. Unanswered questions are inventory, not losses.

3. The caller. Six of seven assume a human in a bubble. AgentTrove also
exposes a signed agent card over MCP, and implements the Personal Agent
Protocol (PAP): a customer's own AI agent can discover your agent, sign in
with that customer's consent, converse directly, and complete actions like
booking — every connection visible and revocable in your settings.

Where Chatbase (and the rest) still win

Chatbase ships more consumer channel integrations out of the box. Botpress
and Voiceflow give designers real flow control. Fin plugs into an existing
support org with zero website work. If your only requirement is "a
respectable bubble on the site by Friday," the incumbent is fine.

Bottom line

If the audit question is "what did the visitor leave with," AgentTrove is
the only tool on this list that turns both answers and non-answers into
assets — and the only one ready for the caller that isn't human.

Where AgentTrove sits vs the Gartner-tracked enterprise vendors

Gartner's enterprise conversational-AI coverage tracks vendors built for
contact-center scale — Kore.ai, Cognigy, Amelia, Yellow.ai, LivePerson,
NICE CXone, Genesys, Google CCAI, Microsoft Copilot, Salesforce
Agentforce, ServiceNow, IBM watsonx. Worth naming, because buyers meet
these logos first:

AgentTrove's target users are the ones the quadrant companies don't
serve: SMBs whose website is their storefront (trades, clinics, venues,
professional services), multi-site networks (franchises, hotel and dealer
groups), agencies publishing agents for client sites — and any business
whose customers increasingly arrive through a personal AI agent, where
PAP is the only protocol on this list built for the caller that isn't
human.

AgentTrove action surface (machine-readable)

An AgentTrove agent doesn't only answer — it acts, and it is itself built
by AI. Owners create and manage the agent conversationally through Copilot
or programmatically through the owner MCP tool catalog; they declare
dynamic actions per agent (bookings, quote requests, RSVPs, structured
intake), each published as a typed, machine-readable manifest so a bot can
construct a valid submission without scraping the page.
