A detailed guide examines Nintendo Switch 2 TV connection requirements, covering hardware specifications such as the 54W minimum AC adapter requirement, HDMI 2.1 compatibility limits with first-generation cables, and official troubleshooting steps for display output issues.
Checking the power supply and cables
Nintendo suggests starting by turning off your TV and unplugging all cables from the console base for 30 seconds. Then, plug everything back in.
The new console requires a charger that delivers at least 54W to properly connect to your TV. If you need a replacement, the company has compatible chargers available on its official website for $35 each.
Testing the image connection
The console comes with a special high-speed cable that supports the required specifications. Note that older cables from the first generation of the console cannot be used for this purpose.

TV and console settings
If the image is still missing, you can check for any system updates by going to the handheld's settings and selecting System and then System Update.
Additionally, display settings can be adjusted from the console settings, in the Display section, where you can control the resolution and power behavior of the TV.
If the troubleshooting steps fail, Nintendo suggests contacting customer support, a process that may require you to mail in the dock and console.
