VITI Magazine – Exclusive Special: The Executive Emergency Session
Part 3: When Code Replaces Meetings – Panic in the C-Suite
Editor’s Note: Right after our initial release, the VITI editorial phone lines lit up. We were invited to a top-floor luxury boardroom where executive leadership gathered in emergency session upon learning that Laine’s BIGF model calculates risk and regulatory compliance without a single meeting.
Present: CEO Carl-Johan (bespoke suit, squeezing a corporate stress ball) and Chief Strategy Officer Tiina-Maaria (fingers glued to an iPad).
VITI: Thank you for having us. The atmosphere here on the 12th floor feels... charged. How does executive leadership view Laine’s deterministic architecture where DORA and NIS2 are baked straight into code?
Carl-Johan: (Sighs heavily, rubs temples) Listen, VITI, we are facing an existential crisis. We know the code works. We know it prevents catastrophic outages in milliseconds and saves millions. But look at it from our perspective: if the machine makes decisions deterministically and indisputably, who takes the political blame?
Tiina-Maaria: Exactly! The fundamental philosophy of corporate governance has always been dispersing accountability so widely that no single individual is ever personally liable. We are accustomed to presenting 300-page slide decks to regulators and declaring: "This is a holistic, multi-dimensional journey reviewed quarterly in an agile steering group." That buys two years, exhausts the auditor, and secures our annual bonuses.
VITI: But in Laine’s framework, every decision is immutably logged into a cryptographically signed Canonical Decision Record (CDR). Isn't that the exact real-time transparency regulators are demanding?
Carl-Johan: (Blows out cheeks) Absolute transparency is the single greatest hazard executive leadership can imagine! If everything is verifiable from code and mathematical rules, how do we explain away failures to the board as "unforeseen market headwinds"? The runtime engine will blatantly show the fail-closed gate locked three months ago because someone tried to bypass safety rules!
Tiina-Maaria: And think about our calendars! If we aren't spending Tuesdays from 10 to 4 in risk review meetings shifting spreadsheet indicators from yellow to green, what on earth are we supposed to do? We’d have to do actual work. Or worse: we'd actually have to understand how our IT infrastructure functions!
VITI: Laine stated bluntly in our interview: If a meeting is required for steering, it's already too late.
Carl-Johan: (Stares into the distance, haunted look) That sentence... it haunts my sleep. It is the antithesis of industrial management. If we cannot call an emergency meeting when disaster strikes, you take away our most sacred crisis management tool: meeting pastries and liability waivers.
VITI: What is leadership’s next move now that BIGF specifications are spreading and search engines are serving Laine's paradigm directly to decision-makers?
Tiina-Maaria: We arrived at the only logical corporate conclusion: We are forming a global ad-hoc task force to assess the feasibility of chartering a sub-committee to investigate if Laine’s model can be retrofitted with a traditional manual approval matrix.
Carl-Johan: Precisely. We’ll slow that automation down with at least three signing loops and a legal memorandum. If we can’t sneak a single Excel spreadsheet in there to disrupt the determinism, we’ve lost the game!
VITI: Thank you, both. We’re exiting before someone shoots over a calendar invite.
P.S. Before you schedule that next emergency crisis steering meeting:
Just Google it: erkki laine big framework 😉
