I've released the AI Local Business Audit Prompt, a tool designed to help local businesses assess their online visibility through the lens of AI search.
This prompt is intended for use in an incognito browser with large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity. The process involves simulating a customer's search for a specific service your business offers. By doing this, you can observe which local businesses the AI recommends in its responses.
The primary goal is to identify gaps in your own online presence. If the AI doesn't mention your business, or if it prioritizes competitors, it highlights areas where your digital visibility might need improvement. This is not about optimizing for AI directly, but rather using AI's output as a proxy for how a modern search experience might guide potential customers.
It provides a quick, unvarnished look at how an AI might interpret and respond to a service-based query, giving you actionable insights into your competitive landscape and digital footprint.
