Early transmission planning has a context problem: candidate tower locations are often reviewed in a map, while access, terrain, land use, substations, crossings, and visual exposure are spread across separate references. Shapezo can be used as a spatial modeling layer for generating and comparing conceptual tower layouts in a complete corridor scene.
This is not a replacement for electrical or structural design. Conductor geometry, electrical clearances, structure loads, foundations, geotechnical conditions, utility standards, and permits require authoritative data and qualified engineering review. The model is for planning alternatives and coordination.
Build a corridor baseline
Before generating tower concepts, assemble a baseline with:
- Coordinate reference and data-source notes.
- Terrain, waterways, drainage, vegetation, and land cover.
- Property boundaries, buildings, roads, rail, and airport constraints.
- Existing transmission infrastructure and substation interfaces.
- Candidate maintenance access and construction staging areas.
The baseline should distinguish confirmed data from placeholders. That keeps a visually compelling concept from being mistaken for verified geometry.
Generate alternatives as controlled changes
Use a stable corridor boundary and create alternatives by changing one planning decision at a time: route alignment, candidate tower locations, structure family, river crossing, access road, or substation connection. Consistent viewpoints make it easier to compare impacts and avoid shifting the surrounding context between options.
For an industrial rail-and-river crossing, a review might focus on span context, foundation access, switching-yard connections, drainage, and nearby facilities. At a growing-city edge, the questions may instead involve residential separation, stormwater, road crossings, and visual exposure. Shapezo helps teams see those concerns as connected spatial conditions.
Define the downstream contract
When an option advances, hand off its conceptual alignment, candidate locations, constraints, and assumptions. The receiving team should know what is provisional and what must be checked. Electrical engineering validates clearances and line behavior; structural engineering validates the tower; geotechnical engineering validates foundations; survey and GIS confirm location data; environmental and permitting teams assess impacts.
Why this workflow helps
The benefit is not automated engineering. It is earlier, clearer comparison. A route can be reviewed against actual landform, facilities, and access before the design becomes difficult to change. Shapezo gives planning and engineering teams a common spatial frame for discussing generated tower concepts and the questions that must be resolved next.
