TL;DR
- Sierra raised $950M in Series E led by Tiger Global and GV at a $15.8B post-money valuation, up from $10B in September 2025.
- The company reports $150M in ARR and serves more than 40% of the Fortune 50, with agents handling "billions of customer interactions."
- The round is the clearest signal yet that enterprise AI agents have moved from pilot to infrastructure — and that the category is consolidating around a small number of production-proven platforms.
In May 2026, Sierra — the enterprise agent company co-founded by OpenAI chairman Bret Taylor and former Google VP Clay Bavor — closed a $950 million Series E led by Tiger Global and GV, with participation from Benchmark, Sequoia and Greenoaks. The post-money valuation of $15.8 billion makes it one of the most valuable private AI agent companies on the planet, and a rough 50% jump from the $10 billion mark it hit only eight months earlier (Source : The Agent Times — Sierra Secures $950M Series E).
The number itself matters less than what it reveals about the trajectory of the whole category. Sierra's agents now handle complex, multi-step workflows across insurance claims (Prudential, Cigna), mortgage origination (Rocket Mortgage), and account management at one in three of the world's largest banks (Source : Diverge — Sierra Raises $950M at $15.8B Valuation).
From pilots to production
The shift behind the round is structural. Industry surveys cited at the time of the raise report that 97% of enterprises deployed AI agents in the previous twelve months — but 79% still struggle to scale those deployments, tripped up by governance, legacy system integration, and the challenge of keeping agents consistent in customer-facing, high-stakes scenarios (Source : Diverge — Sierra Raises $950M at $15.8B Valuation).
Sierra's pitch is that it has cleared those hurdles. The deployment timelines it publishes read like a moat in themselves: Nordstrom launched its voice agent "Nora" in five weeks; Singtel went live in ten weeks with resolution rates above 70%; Cigna reached production in eight weeks and cut patient authentication time by 80% (Source : Sierra — Better Customer Experiences Built on Sierra).
Speed-to-production, not raw model capability, is becoming the competitive axis in enterprise agents. Sierra's platform model — where non-technical teams configure and deploy agents without standing up engineering infrastructure — directly lowers the barrier that stalls most pilot programs at the 79% wall.
Ghostwriter and the shift to agent-as-a-service
The most forward-looking detail in the round is Ghostwriter, launched in April 2026. Customers describe a business need in natural language, and Ghostwriter autonomously designs, builds and deploys a specialized agent to fulfill it (Source : Diverge — Sierra Raises $950M at $15.8B Valuation).
This is the same pattern that defined the consumer "vibe coding" wave, now arriving at the enterprise customer-service layer. If the cost of authoring a production agent collapses toward the cost of describing one, the bottleneck moves from "can we build it" to "can we govern it" — which is precisely where Sierra's Fortune 50 base gives it leverage over younger competitors.
Why this signals consolidation
Sierra's positioning has also visibly evolved. Two years ago, most deployments were reactive support — tracking orders, resetting passwords. The company now describes agents "managing relationships," anticipating needs and driving sales, retention and loyalty, across the full customer lifecycle (Source : The Agent Times — Sierra Secures $950M Series E).
With over $1 billion in deployable capital aimed at its Agent OS, European and Asian expansion, and adjacent workflows like sales, Sierra is competing for a slice of the hundreds of billions currently spent on business process outsourcing and customer service operations. The strategic presence of GV — Alphabet's venture arm — as co-lead is worth noting: it hints at alignment between Sierra's distribution and Google's enterprise AI ambitions, even if no specific terms were disclosed (Source : The Agent Times — Sierra Secures $950M Series E).
The takeaway for enterprise buyers is blunt: the market is hardening around a small set of platforms with production track records. The next 18 months are the window to establish an agent strategy before the category consolidates further.
