Every organization has technology assets one way or another. Laptops are issued to employees, software is bought for departments, devices are replaced from time to time, licenses are monitored, and retired hardware is disposed of.
Managing this information becomes difficult at scale
This is where
IT Asset Management (ITAM) comes into play.
For professionals looking for
Best ServiceNow ITAM Training in Hyderabad at TechMyIndia , the first and most important lesson will not focus on ServiceNow terms and features.
ITAM is about understanding how an organization manages an asset throughout its lifetime, beginning with its acquisition and concluding with its retirement.
ITAM Defined (Without Complicated Language)
The concept of ITAM is known as Information Technology Asset Management.
In short,
ITAM involves managing an organization’s technology assets and the information pertaining to them.
Let’s say a company buys a laptop for a new employee.
The organization may have to store information such as
the purchase date,
current location,
the employee using it,
its status,
whether it has been transferred,
if maintenance is due, and
what happens when the device is replaced at some point in the future.
These details become significantly more important as an organization’s technology infrastructure grows.
Best ServiceNow ITAM module essentially lets organizations manage asset-related processes through the ServiceNow platform.
Why ServiceNow ITAM Makes for an Interesting Career Option
ITAM is a unique blend of technology and business processes.
A company does not buy hardware and software to keep them in a warehouse.
Assets get utilized to support employees and business goals.
For instance, a laptop enables an employee to perform their duties, a specific application facilitates a business function, and a server supports an application, among other examples.
ITAM proficiency makes it possible for learners to identify and understand a significant part of enterprise operations, which is one reason why they choose to learn about ITAM.
Asset Lifecycle Overview
One of the simplest ways to grasp the idea of ITAM is to think about an asset’s lifecycle.
A sample laptop lifecycle would involve the following stages.
Purchase → Receipt → Deployment → Assignment → Maintenance → Transfer → Retirement
The exact process may vary depending on the organization, but the principle remains the same.
An asset has a beginning, middle, and an end, and ITAM deals with the information and processes pertaining to it.
Hardware Asset Management
Hardware is one of the most recognizable types of assets that organizations manage.
Some of the most common assets that fall under hardware asset management include laptops, desktops, servers, monitors, and other devices.
For instance, a company may assign 200 laptops to its employees.
Being aware of the fact that the organization owns 200 laptops is one thing, but it has to collect more data about the devices, including the location, assignment, status, and more.
This distinction is an important part of introductory ITAM courses.
Software Asset Management
Modern organizations are increasingly reliant on software.
Such applications get utilized by individuals and departments and get deployed across organizational units.
Software Asset Management (SAM), as the name suggests, is about managing software-related assets and information about software licenses.
Understanding the differences between hardware and software asset management is one of the first things that a ServiceNow ITAM learner will comprehend during their training.
Why Hyderabad-Based Professionals May Consider ITAM
There is no doubt that Hyderabad is home to its fair share of multinational companies, including those that deal in technology and related services.
For these professionals, learning about ITAM, particularly ServiceNow ITAM management, can be a great way to supplement their technical expertise with a new field of knowledge.
That said, the choice of learning ITAM should not be based on the city alone.
In short,
if you are searching for Best ServiceNow ITAM Training in Hyderabad at TechMyIndia , double-check the course details before enrolling.
ITAM Should Be Evaluated Through Workplace Scenarios
IT asset management should ideally begin with contextual awareness.
For instance, think about a situation where an employee leaves an organization.
As a result, the organization may need to identify and update the status of all technology assets that the individual had utilized during their time at the company.
A similar example can be used to explain the concept of ITAM to a beginner.
An organization buys a software license for a department.
The company has to have an understanding of its software assets and the associated licenses.
Contextual awareness allows learners to visualize the process, which is why it is a vital part of any ITAM course, including the one provided by TechMyIndia.

ITAM Involves More Than Just Hardware and Software Inventory
Let’s suppose a company has 1000 laptops.
An inventory of all company laptops indicates that the organization has 1000 laptops.
Asset management goes beyond that.
For instance, it deals with information such as who has the devices, where they are, what their status is, when they were acquired, if they are still in use, and what happens at the end of their lifecycle.
Practical Understanding Is More Important Than Glossary Terms
At the core of ITAM lies a series of glossary terms.
Anyone beginning their ITAM journey has to first understand concepts such as acquisition, assignment, transfer, and retirement.
However, a beginner should ideally relate these terms to real-world business scenarios.
For instance, a learner can think about how an organization utilizes an asset, how it deals with its retirement, and what happens if the item gets transferred from one employee to another.
A learner must understand ITAM processes at a granular level, which is why practical language is more important than generic definitions.

The term “best” can have different meanings for different people.
Some may consider flexibility to be the most important feature, while others may value practical coverage.
Some people may have different expectations, which is why it is crucial to compare the available options.
As far as I am concerned,
learners should evaluate a training program based on its merits and not make assumptions based on the name.
