EV vs Hybrid vs Petrol: Which Makes Sense in 2026

The math has shifted. Here's the honest breakdown.

Pure Electric

Best for homeowners with garages. Cost per mile: 3-4 cents with home charging. The catch: public charging costs 3-4 times more. Apartment dwellers should think twice.

Hybrid

Best for people who want better fuel economy without lifestyle changes. No charging required. No range anxiety. Toyota's system is proven over 20 years. Cost per mile: 7-9 cents.

Petrol

Best for low-mileage drivers under 8,000 miles per year. Lower purchase price. Every mechanic knows how to fix it. Cost per mile: 12-15 cents.

Which Wins?

Homeowner driving 12,000+ miles: EV. Apartment dweller: Hybrid. Low-mileage driver: Petrol still works. Your living situation determines what saves you money.
