A well-crafted policy title can steer moderation before a single rule is read. In this post, we outline a ten-minute method to produce clear, searchable titles that help keep a Discord community safe.
Identify the core intent.
Start by asking what the policy addresses. Is it spam, harassment, or content guidelines? The title should reflect that intent in a single phrase.Keep it concise.
Aim for 5-10 words. Avoid jargon that community members may not recognize.Use searchable keywords.
Include terms that moderators and users are likely to type when searching for the policy. For example, Spam Rules or Harassment Policy.Test for clarity.
Read the title aloud. Does it immediately convey the policy's purpose? If not, iterate.Version control.
Store the title in a central config file so that any updates are reflected across all moderation tools.
By following these steps, you can create policy titles that guide moderation decisions efficiently and reduce confusion.
