Deploying a 10-MW wind farm can reduce CO2 emissions by 1.2 million tonnes. That same scale can reduce honey production and increase risk to dragonfly populations. The trade-offs arise from turbine placement, rotor speed, and wake effects that alter pollinator foraging and prey availability. Design strategies - such as aligning turbines with existing corridors, adjusting cut-in speeds, and integrating habitat buffers - can mitigate these impacts while maintaining energy output.
