After the wildfire, a Spokane family faced a $7,500 veterinary bill. By filing an insurance claim, tapping a university disaster fund, and applying for local pet disaster aid, they reduced the out-of-pocket cost to $950. The process involved:
- Submitting the claim with documentation of the wildfire damage.
- Contacting the university's disaster relief office for a veterinary stipend.
- Completing the city's pet disaster assistance application.
- Submitting receipts to each payer and reconciling the total.
The combined reimbursements covered $6,550 of the original bill.
