Operating a Shopify store involves managing numerous tasks, from inventory control and order fulfillment to developing marketing campaigns. Within this demanding routine, technical SEO problems can emerge, causing confusion and questions about why your store isn't performing as expected in search results. Recently, a compelling online discussion highlighted common struggles for many Shopify merchants. This discussion centered on a store owner observing two distinct homepage versions in Google Search Console (GSC), each displaying vastly different search rankings.
Consider this situation: your primary, intended homepage, for instance https://example.com/, ranks at a disappointing position 57, meanwhile, an older, apparently deprecated version, http://www.example.com/, continues to receive impressions at a respectable position 6. This exact situation was reported by the original poster, who believed they had perfectly migrated from www to non-www and enforced SSL across all traffic.
