Salesforce Just Put Its Entire CRM Inside Claude — and the Stock Jumped 19%

Salesforce stock jumped as much as 19% in a single session this week — its biggest intraday move since 2020 — and it wasn't because of a blowout earnings number. It was because of a plugin.

On its Q2 '27 earnings call, Salesforce and Anthropic pulled the sheet off Claudeforce, billed with the kind of modesty you'd expect from a press release: "The #1 AI Meets the #1 AI CRM." The headline product is Salesforce in Claude — the whole customer-relationship machine, pipeline and all, living inside Anthropic's Claude. Salesforce is calling it an "AI CRO," shipping with 37 prebuilt sales skills: meeting prep, deal-health review, pipeline review. Onboarding reads a seller's enterprise context — Salesforce, Slack, any connector wired into Claude — and stands up a live dashboard on the spot. VentureBeat's read was blunter: Salesforce just put its entire CRM inside Claude and says you'll never need its app again. It's in pilot today, with an open beta planned for September.

Now, I've been around long enough to be suspicious of anything that adds a fifth of a company's value on a Wednesday. A 19% pop on a partnership announcement is the market voting with real enthusiasm and no receipts yet — pilots don't pay the light bill, renewals do. Price is what you pay; value is what you get, and the two don't always shake hands on announcement day.

The one-model bet

Here's the part worth sitting with. Salesforce just bet its front door on one model — Claude. For a company signing a partnership, that's a fine trade; you pick a horse, you shake hands, you ship. But it's a lousy habit for the rest of us to copy at home.
