Most people think about their network
the week they need a job.
That's the worst week
to start building one.
A network isn't a favor
you cash in.
It's a garden
you tend for years
before it feeds you.
The connections that matter
were made when you needed nothing.
When you helped someone
with no angle.
When you stayed in touch
because you meant it,
not because you wanted something.
So do the quiet work early.
Answer the message.
Make the introduction.
Congratulate the win
you had no part in.
Be genuinely useful
to people
long before you need them
to be useful to you.
Then, on the day
you actually need help,
you won't be asking strangers.
You'll be asking friends.
You can't rush this.
A relationship built in a panic
feels like a relationship built in a panic.
Plant it now,
while you need nothing.
That's the only time
it grows.
