eBay: ~13% final value fee + promoted listing optional
Poshmark: 20% flat + $7.67 buyer-paid shipping label you still pay
Mercari: 10% selling fee + payment processing
Etsy (if you cross-list): $0.20 listing + 6.5% transaction + 3% + $0.25 processing + 15% offsite ads if triggered

That last Etsy offsite ad fee is the silent killer — it can flip a comfortable margin negative overnight.

What I learned: The most common mistake is underpricing. Most resellers I've modeled never calculated net margin per platform. After running the CLI, most realize they need higher list prices — or to stop cross-listing low-margin SKUs on Poshmark.

Tool #2: Aging inventory capital tracker

The problem: You're making sales. But half your closet is dead stock.

A $30 leather tote listed 149 days isn't inventory — it's a loan you gave yourself at 0% interest. Capital tied up in stale SKUs is invisible on most P&L spreadsheets.

Tool #3: Per-order shipping COGS logger

The problem: You bought a $8.50 USPS label on a $45 eBay sale. Poshmark auto-deducted $7.67 on the next order. By month-end you shipped 40 orders and have no idea what shipping actually cost — because labels never hit the same sheet as sales.

Shipping is not overhead. It is COGS that changes net on every platform.
