Most self-discovery apps hand you a four-letter code or a number on a scale. We wanted something different when we built Origin Of You by Inithouse. The app is a self-discovery tool that combines five systems and 120+ data points into an AI-generated written portrait of you. Not a type. Not a score. A portrait.
Here is how those inputs actually become a single coherent text, and why we chose prose over charts.
What the five systems are
Origin Of You pulls from five frameworks, each looking at a person from a different angle:
- Big Five (OCEAN) personality traits
- Enneagram type and wing
- MBTI-derived cognitive functions
- Human Design type, strategy, and authority
- Full birth chart astrology (Sun, Moon, Rising, and planetary aspects)
Each system produces its own outputs. Big Five gives five continuous scales. Enneagram assigns a core motivation. MBTI maps cognitive preferences. Human Design describes energy mechanics. Astrology adds planetary positions tied to a specific birth time.
Together, these produce 120+ individual data points for one person.
How the input works
Users answer questions and provide birth details across multiple steps. Some inputs feed several systems at once (birth date drives both astrology and Human Design). Others are system-specific (agreement scales for Big Five, scenario choices for Enneagram).
We did not build a single mega-questionnaire. Each system has its own input flow, so users see why they are answering what they are answering. The full process takes roughly 15 to 20 minutes.
Where systems agree, and where they do not
This is the part that makes collecting 120+ data points worth it. When two or more systems point to the same trait, the portrait states it with more certainty.
Example: if Big Five scores high on Openness, MBTI shows strong Intuitive preference, and the birth chart has a prominent Neptune or Uranus aspect, the portrait can say something direct about a person's relationship with abstract thinking. Three independent signals pointing the same direction.
The more interesting case is contradiction.
Say Enneagram indicates a Type 8 (assertive, confrontational), but Big Five Agreeableness scores high and Human Design shows a Projector type (wait for invitation, don't push). A simple personality app would either ignore the conflict or average it into something bland.
We wrote the portrait logic to name the contradiction instead. The output might describe someone who has a strong instinct to take charge but whose deeper pattern is to hold back and let others come to them first. That tension is real, not a data error. People who read their portrait often say the contradictions are the most accurate part.
Why prose, not scores
We considered dashboards. Radar charts. Percentile bars. The kind of output that looks clean in a screenshot.
We dropped all of it for one reason: a chart tells you where you score. A written portrait tells you what it means to live as that combination.
"You score 78th percentile on Conscientiousness" is information. "You tend to plan ahead in detail but get frustrated when others do not follow through on commitments you considered settled" is recognition.
The portrait format also handles contradictions naturally. A bar chart showing high Assertiveness and high Agreeableness just looks like two unrelated bars. Prose can explain how those two traits play off each other in practice, which contexts bring out which side.
How we weigh signals
Not all 120+ data points carry equal weight. Some practical decisions we made at Inithouse:
Birth-time-dependent data is flagged. Astrology inputs that require exact birth time (Rising sign, house placements) are marked as lower confidence when the user enters an approximate time. The portrait adjusts its language: "likely" instead of definitive statements.
System-specific claims stay attributed. When the portrait references something from only one system, it says so. "Your Enneagram pattern suggests..." rather than presenting it as universal truth. When three systems converge, no attribution is needed.
No single system overrides the others. We deliberately built the weighting so no framework dominates. An unusual birth chart placement does not cancel out clear Big Five scores. The portrait is a composite, not a ranking.
What we did not build
We did not build a clinical assessment tool. Origin Of You does not diagnose, predict behavior, or prescribe actions. The portrait is a mirror, not a prescription.
We also did not build a social comparison engine. There are no leaderboards, no "you are more creative than 82% of users." The portrait is about you in relation to yourself, not to a population.
These were deliberate product decisions at Origin Of You by Inithouse, not limitations. The goal was always a written portrait that feels personally true, not a score that feels scientifically precise.
