CrewAI’s workflow explodes into boilerplate as tasks and agents grow. LangGraph’s explicitness reveals DAG structure, but dynamic or conditional logic requires substantial extra code. AutoGen stays terse but loses traceability—failures bounce chaotically among chained calls.

AutoGen leads. CrewAI consistently breaks on state-sharing and context propagation. When to Use Each Framework: Clear Guidance, Not Hype

1. Complex, multi-step workflows at scale, async, minimal boilerplate: AutoGen pulls ahead every time.
2. Explicit DAGs or graph-structured workflows: LangGraph is usable—prepare for manual branching logic and more debugging.
3. Human-analog agent metaphors or maximal isolation: CrewAI is for you, but pay in tokens, latency, and debugging effort. Acceptable only for tiny composed agent teams.
4. Custom orchestration atop CrewAI or LangGraph for missing features? You'll rebuild a jankier AutoGen.

If your orchestration needs haven't failed yet, that's only because you haven't scaled past a handful of steps—or you've built around the real limitations offline. Ignore the toy cookbook code.
