Connected but no internet. WiFi vanished completely. Drops every five minutes. Windows WiFi problems come in flavors, and each has its fix.

The fast version
- The holy trinity of restarts. Restart the PC, then the router (unplug 30 seconds). Windows caches and router tables both get weird with uptime, and this classic pair fixes more than half of cases with zero diagnosis required.
- Toggle airplane mode. Click the WiFi icon, hit Airplane mode on, wait 10 seconds, off. It power cycles the wireless card's software stack without touching anything else.
- Forget and rejoin the network. Settings, Network and internet, WiFi, Manage known networks, pick yours, Forget. Reconnect fresh with the password. Stored profiles corrupt subtly and rebuilding them solves 'connected, no internet' cases beautifully.
The thorough version
- Run the network troubleshooter. Settings, System, Troubleshoot, Other troubleshooters, Network and Internet. It's not the placebo people remember from old Windows: it resets adapters and clears stuck states with a decent hit rate.
- Update or roll back the WiFi driver. Device Manager, Network adapters, right click your WiFi card. Update driver first; if the problem STARTED after an update, Driver tab, Roll Back instead. One of those two directions usually matches the timeline.
- The nuclear option: network reset. Settings, Network and internet, Advanced network settings, Network reset. This wipes and reinstalls every network adapter back to factory state. WiFi passwords will need re-entering, and stubborn cases that survive everything else usually fall here.
Common mistakes, and how to dodge them
- Don't skip to the nuclear reset first: it clears VPNs and saved networks too, so it's intentionally placed at the bottom.
- A Windows update that breaks WiFi usually gets a fix patch within weeks: check Optional updates after rolling back.

Pro tips without the attitude
- Other devices fine on the same WiFi? Then it's the PC, follow the ladder. Other devices also struggling? It's the router or ISP, call in that direction instead.
- VPN and old antivirus network filters love breaking connectivity: try with them temporarily off.
- The 6 GHz band on new routers confuses older WiFi cards: stick to 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz on the problem PC.
Before you ask
WiFi connected but says 'No internet'. What is it?
Usually a stuck profile or DNS hiccup: steps 3 and 4 handle most cases. Router side issues cause it too, so the first restart round matters.
The WiFi option disappeared entirely!
Airplane mode stuck, the adapter disabled in Device Manager (enable it), or a physical WiFi key switch on some laptops (yes, they still exist).
