Not everyone comes to open source through a computer science degree or a corporate job. My journey started in a very different place: the Spiral Tribe movement – an underground collective that blended free parties, tekno culture, and a radical vision of community.
This is the story of how that movement, the free party scene, and Linux taught me what sharing really means.
🎶 Spiral Tribe: More Than Music
Spiral Tribe wasn't just a sound system. It was a movement – born in the early 1990s in the UK, spreading across Europe, and becoming a symbol of the free tekno (not techno) underground. We weren't just playing music; we were building temporary autonomous zones, reclaiming abandoned spaces, and creating communities based on trust, participation, and mutual aid.

Linux is the ultimate example of collaborative, shared knowledge. Unlike proprietary systems, Linux is built by thousands of developers around the world, working together without a central plan. Sound familiar? That's exactly how the free tekno scene operated.

💻 My Path: From Underground to GitHub
I didn't start coding in a classroom. I started by:

Building generators (mechanical engineering on the fly)
Understanding electricity (power distribution, grounding)
Organizing events (logistics, communication, trust)
When I discovered Linux, I realized that all of this was coding – just on a different plane. The same skills applied:
