Organised loan ring fraud is one of the most damaging forms of financial crime facing banks and NBFCs today. Unlike a single fraudulent loan application, these scams involve multiple coordinated applications submitted across different lenders using forged documents, stolen identities, mule borrowers, or ghost identities. Each lender sees only one seemingly genuine application, making the fraud difficult to detect until after loan disbursement.
The real challenge is that the connections between these applications remain hidden when institutions work in isolation.
