From an Ambitious Idea to a Real-Time Collaborative Platform — Building My Miro Clone 🚀
A few months ago, this project started as:
“Can I actually build something as complex as Miro?”
At first it sounded impossible.
Real-time collaboration.
Infinite canvas.
Smooth drag interactions.
Sticky notes.
Authentication.
Live syncing.
Everything felt WAY above my skill level.
But I still started building.
And honestly…
That decision changed how I think about development completely.
🧠 Why I Started This Project
I didn’t want to build another:
- To-do app
- Weather app
- Basic CRUD project
I wanted something that would genuinely challenge me.
Something that forced me to:
- Learn advanced frontend architecture
- Understand real-time systems
- Improve UI/UX thinking
- Handle performance optimization
- Build scalable full stack features
That’s how Canvra started.
⚡ The Hardest Part
The biggest challenge wasn’t writing code.
It was managing complexity.
At one point:
- Canvas rendering broke
- Drag interactions lagged
- State became messy
- Real-time syncing caused issues
- UI performance dropped
Some days I spent HOURS debugging tiny interaction bugs.
And honestly…
There were moments I thought about abandoning the project completely.
🚀 Slowly Everything Started Working
After continuous rebuilding, optimization, and redesigning:
Features finally started coming together:
- Infinite canvas
- Real-time collaboration
- Sticky notes
- Zoom & pan
- Authentication
- Responsive UI
- Smooth interactions
That moment felt INSANELY rewarding.

📚 Biggest Lessons I Learned
This project taught me more than tutorials ever could.

- Better TypeScript workflows
- UI/UX thinking
- Complex state management
Large projects expose weaknesses FAST.
But they also force massive growth.
💡 What I Realized
The best way to improve as a developer is NOT:
- Watching endless tutorials
- Copying small apps
It’s building difficult things that scare you.
Because that’s where real learning starts.
