When I decided to build my developer portfolio, I didn't just want a website — I wanted an experience.
Something that feels alive. Something that reflects not just what I've built, but how I think as a developer.
This is how I built my portfolio using React and Vercel — and how I added a dynamic status feature to make it feel real-time and personal.
The Goal
Most portfolios look like this:
- Static pages
- Project lists
- Contact forms
Nothing wrong with that — but I wanted more.
I wanted:
- A strong visual identity
- Smooth animations
- A modern developer aesthetic
- A feature that stands out
That's where the status system came in.
Why I Chose React
React gave me the flexibility to build exactly what I had in mind.
Key reasons:

- Easy state management

I broke my portfolio into components:

This made everything clean and scalable.
Designing the Experience
I didn't want a "normal" UI — I wanted something immersive.
So I focused on:
- Custom loader animations
- Cursor effects
- Smooth transitions
- Gradient and glass-style UI
- Interactive hover states
The goal was simple:
> Make the user feel the site, not just scroll through it.
The Live Status Feature
This is my favorite part of the entire project.
Instead of a static portfolio, I added a status feature where I can update what I'm currently doing.
For example:
- "Building a new fintech app"
- "Open to freelance work"
- "Learning backend scaling"
💭 Why This Feature Matters
Most portfolios are frozen in time.
Mine isn't.
This feature allows me to:
- Share real-time updates
- Show personality
- Let recruiters see what I'm actively doing
- Keep the site fresh without redesigning it
How It Works (Conceptually)
The status system is simple but powerful.
It can be powered by:
- Local state (for simple use cases)
- An API (Node.js / Express)
- Firebase or a lightweight CMS
The key idea:

Deployment with Vercel
Once I finished building, deployment was straightforward.
Steps:

- Connect repository to Vercel
- Deploy instantly
Every update goes live in seconds.
Performance Considerations
I focused on keeping everything fast and smooth.
Optimizations:
- Lightweight assets
- Efficient animations
- Responsive layout
- Minimal re-renders
Result:
A fast, responsive experience across all devices.
Lessons I Learned
